The CC-OSFP08DR8-12D Optical Transceiver Module targets next-generation 800G fabrics in cloud, AI, and HPC environments. Eight host 100G lanes are mapped to eight optical lanes at 1310 nm, delivering stable DR-class links up to 500 m on single-mode fiber. This hot-pluggable OSFP Type-2 optical module pairs a compact thermal footprint with dual MTP-8 APC ports and CMIS control for streamlined operations across mixed platforms. For many operators, this class is also known as 800g osfp, simplifying search, qualification, and lifecycle management.
Built to OSFP MSA with CMIS for 8/16-lane pluggables, the design employs PAM4 signaling to reach 800G without increasing faceplate port counts. EML lasers at 1310 nm provide linearity and dispersion tolerance; PIN-PD receivers maintain sensitivity and margin required by DR optics. The Optical Transceiver Module adheres to common register maps and state machines, ensuring uniform behavior across switch NOS variants.
Internally, a retimer/gearbox conditions eight 100G electrical lanes and drives PAM4 symbols to eight EMLs. On receive, PIN/TIA fronts recover signals back to the host SerDes. A two-wire I²C bus exposes CMIS pages for inventory, thresholds, power state, and fault handling—allowing the optical module to integrate with automated provisioning and fleet tooling.
